Yumi Kaizuka was born and raised in Osaka, Japan. She graduated from Osaka Seikei College from the department of arts and design. During her studies, she cultivated an appreciation for the array of colors in the gorgeous fabrics she helped produce while working in a textile company.
Yumi began to design costumes and later would incorporate the designs into retail window displays. Eventually, these window displays required Yumi to use live models, forcing her to apply beautiful makeup to complete her envisioned aesthetic. At this point, Yumi Kaizuka felt a strong passion for makeup as a form of art.
With a burning desire to perfect her skills, Yumi moved to New York in 2006, joined the makeup artist teams of Maybelline, and worked backstage on many fashion shows. This opened many doors for Yumi to continue working as a makeup artist on photo shoots for various photographers in New York City.
Yumi also received Master Barber License in 2020. She has been represented by South James Agency since 2021 March.
